Course description:
The D.O./M.S. degree is appropriate for students who have been accepted into the KCOM osteopathic medical program and who wish to better prepare themselves for more competitive residencies and an academic career. This dual track requirements are similar to the research tracks of the Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences Program with the exceptions listed below: All individuals accepted into the medical program are eligible for the research tracks of the Biomedical Sciences program, but need to interview specifically for the Biomedical Sciences program and go through a separate selection process. Upon prior arrangement, applicants visiting Kirksville to interview for the medical program may also interview for the Biomedical Sciences program.
Entry requirements:
The candidate must earn at least 40 quarter-credit hours (QCH) by taking all Required Courses (33 QCH) and at least 7 QCH of Elective Courses (as approved by the individual's Advisory Committee). Required and Elective courses are listed below. The candidate must achieve a grade of B- (80%) or better in Biochemistry I, must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least B- (80%), and pass every course, (i.e., C- or 70%) in graded courses (refer to course descriptions). Failure to meet these academic standards will result in academic probation or dismissal depending on review by the Graduate Program Committee. Probation status, if granted, is reviewed at the end of each academic quarter and failure to demonstrate acceptable progress will result in dismissal. Grades of "Incomplete" may be assigned under certain circumstances until course work has been completed.

Application details:
Complete the application form and return with a nonrefundable $60 application fee (check, credit card or money order) made payable to "ATSU-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine." Only U.S. currency will be accepted. The application fee is valid for one year from the application date. The application, all supporting documents, and fee must be postmarked by the program deadline, March 1st or until all seats are filled. Students generally enter the program in the week following July 4th (check with Admissions for exact date). If there are questions or difficulties in complying with the stated deadlines, please call the Office of Admissions at 1-866-626-2878, Ext. 2237. Deadlines for non-U.S. citizens and permanent residents are two months earlier than stated above for U.S. citizens.
