Course description:
The concept is to provide a major that allows students to study leadership, communication, and the applied sciences of agriculture. Within the major are elective areas for agriculture courses and an Emphasis Area, which is like a minor and is a combination of courses, chosen by the student and academic advisor that provide concentrated study in a particular area. The courses include leadership theory, models of the change process, methods of teaching adults, multiculturalism in agriculture, and program planning in extension. The students who major in people-oriented and they have interests in a variety of technical divisions including animal agriculture, science, plant agriculture, business, and other areas. They have career aspirations in the following areas: communications/public relations, politics, lobbying for agriculture, extension work, and other similar fields.
Entry requirements:
Applicant should have ranked in the top quarter of their graduating class, and must achieve a combined SAT Math and SAT Critical Reading score of at least 1300 with a test score of at least 600 in each of these components; or achieve a composite ACT score of at least 30 with a test score of at least 27 in ACT Math and ACT English. Students must take the writing component of the SAT and/or ACT in order for the test score to be considered, and have successfully taken all recommended coursework.

Applicant can submit the application form through online with a nonrefundable $75 application fee. The application fee may be paid by check, money order or approved credit card and applicants who wish to pay by credit card may do so as part of the online application. They should submit official transcripts of all official senior secondary or high school transcripts according to the educational system of their country (generally the last three to four years of secondary education); official SAT or ACT scores with writing component; scores on TOEFL; minimum SAT Critical Reading (Verbal) score of 480; minimum ACT English score of 19; minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall band, or completing all four years in a U.S. accredited high school. Applicants are required to complete Essay Topics A and B on the Apply Texas Application.
