- Lamar University, USA
- MS
I am Ram Kiran, I came to Lamar in the Summer of 2003 and completed my course two years hence. Lamar is a small up coming university. I completed my Masters there and had a good time.
The best way to get to Lamar is to take a direct flight up to Houston which is 80 miles from Beaumont. The travel schedule depends on your airline. If you fly Lufthansa then there will be one stop before Houston at Frankfurt .From Houston it is and then another $60 to get to Beaumont (by road). Pick up facility is available at Lamar but you need to pay later for that. wont be too high and you dont have to worry about it.
Lamar is quite decent in terms of teaching. Some of the profs in CS are quite good. Your course fee would have to be paid fully at the beginning. If one goes there in fall then you have to register for a minimum 3 courses. So that would be around $3000. If you take an additional course then it would be another $1000. Course fee is best checked with the school.
You dont have to worry about accommodation at Lamar. It is very easy. Living expenses will be around 25-300 dollars monthly. If you do a job then it is very easy to make that kind of money. There are jobs available but there is also number of students competing for these.
Job prospects are ok, it eventually depends on the student.
