The experience has been excellent. The infrastructure was not the best, but is greatly being improved. As far as advice is concerned- be proactive to make the most out of Drexel. It provides plenty of opportunity for those who are willing to seek. Be prepared to strike a balance and face the outside world.
Drexel is rated as one of the MORE SELECTIVE colleges by U.S News Rankings. However, it works with students on an individual bases to figure out the best matches for admissions. I personally did all my college research on my own and didn't require assistance from a representative even though Drexel does provide such resources. Tips- Make a well rounded application rather than one lopsided to only academics / extra-curricular activities. The VISA process was smooth and the processes are straightforward (listed on the university website). The travel was convenient but rather exhaustive due to the distance.
My course is computer science. It is very interesting and broad, yet gives a lot of opportunity to specialize. I have 16-18 credits a quarter (Drexel has 4 quarters instead of 2 semesters). School facilities are fantastic and ever- evolving. The course is definitely value for money especially after the financial assistance programs. Academic advice- The key is time management and keeping up with assignments. This makes exams simpler and keeping up grades much easier.
Drexel is located in the city of Philadelphia. Being a student town, the atmosphere is very friendly and comforting. There are plenty of things to do ranging from art appreciation to sports to nightlife, music and entertainment. Accommodation on campus is very costly and amounts to around $20K a year. Part time jobs are available but are few in number. The key to doing well at Drexel is to work hard and party harder. There are lots of diverse clubs (around 200) on campus and there is something or the other for everybody. I organized and managed a lot of events and am involved In 6 student organizations.
The Drexel experience has greatly increased my job prospects primarily owing to the brilliant CO-OP program. There are lots of alumni associations to join and I will be keeping in touch.
