I would advice students to study but not too hard. Focus on mixing with the domestic students and learn things out of the class as well.
I had write GMAT, send in Essays and Transcripts and attend an Interview for my admission. No assistance taken. Got F1 visa, the interview took less than a minute. Got Continentals direct flight from Mumbai to New York, and then to Atlanta. No student fare, baggage rules are almost same as others. For details check the airline website for international travel. University is about 25 minutes away from the Airport. Everybody faces immigration when they arrive in a new country. University sends current students to receive newly arrived students.
Got 60% tuition scholarship. University usually provides good scholarships.
I am very happy with the program structure. Professors are great. Classes, Library, Lecture Halls, Auditorium are all very good.
I lived on campus, good ones. Excellent sports facilities. Part time jobs are easily available. Atlanta is a great city, good music scene with lots of places to hangout. The university is top one, so it has all the clubs, societies that one may require. Nightlife is amazing, really cool places to go out to. International Students Scholars Program (ISSP) handles all international students related issues, programs and events, and they did a very good job this year as well.
There is a placement cell at the university. Its quite easy for international students to find jobs here. There is a campus placement process here. Many global organizations attend these placement events. Work permit depends on the country and not the university. USA is having some trouble dishing out H1s for now. There is a huge alumni association and it is very responsive and active.
Located in Georgia.
