Having done my masters in Ocean Modeling back home in India, I was very keen to pursue PhD in a related field, abroad. I enrolled for my PhD in 2006 at the CASPO, Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD. The research facilities are superb at the university.
I had completed my B.Tech at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and my Masters at I.I.Sc. My selection process posed no difficulties for me.
I assisted teaching a course ESYS 102, "The Solid and Fluid Earth" for the winter quarter, 07-08.
I am engaged in research in the field of Ocean Modeling, guided by Prof. Arthur J. Miller and Prof. Bruce Cornuelle.... is great to be working with such experienced people. The courses I have enrolled in are Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Ocean Waves, Numerican Optimization, Marine Chemistry and Physical-Biological Interactions. The best thing about my program is that there is ample scope to grow academically. I had the opportunity to attend several workshops related to my field that were organized by different universities here.
