My advise to future students is to be open to meeting new people and unafraid to speak ur mind.
I had to write the SATs, I used practise books, i did attend coaching classes but they didnt help me. My educational counselor was Viral Doshi. I did need a visa, the visa interview was pleasant. It was easy to get the tickets to my destination. I flew Jet, it was awesome, though they did not offer a student fare. I landed at O Hare Intl Airport. We had the regular baggage rules and were not allowed extra baggage. No issues at the immigration office. No Meet and Greet service at the airport.
Assistantships/scholarships/tuition waivers offered only to American students, so that is not too good.
The program is so far so good. Some professors are awesome, some are pretty bad. We have a well equipped lecture halls. I am happy. There is also a huge library.
I stay at the university accommodation. They are not too bad, communal bathrooms are a bit of a pain. We have full sports facilities. we have 3 gyms and many tennis courts and pools. Impossible to get part time jobs, bcoz of no work its only study. There is a dead social scene if ur under 21, night life good only if u in a frat. Weather is awful, its bitingly cold. There is an international students association and it handles orientation for intl students and mixers and all.
I dont know what a placement cell is. Job prospects for International students it depends..not too bad if u have a social security. The campus placement links u to alumni in jobs that u are interested in. Work permits have gotten much harder now that Obama is prez. The Alumni is very active and helpful.
Located in Illinois.
